During the months of November and December students will work on the following skills:

·   numbers 0-20 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)

·   tally marks

·  matching and sorting: shapes

·  reviewing 2 -dimensional shapes

·  patterns :ABC and ABB

·  comparing, ordering, and  measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches

Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.

HANDWRITING/WRITING
Letters: Review Letter Formation

Students will practice the basic handwriting strokes, pencil grip, and correct posture.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: November 21^st-25th

Shopping hours: 
During lunches and after school November 21^st and 24^th 
 8:00-1:00 p.m. on November 25^th 

Before you visit the Book Fair, be sure to download the Book Fairs app to help you find the right books for your child. For more information, visit: scholastic.com/apps/bookfairs. And if you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online Fair is available from November 14th to December 2^nd.

Grandparent's Day

Tuesday, November 25^th  10:00 a.m.

Grandparents are invited to join us for our Outstanding Student Assembly at 10:00 am in the Community Center gym.  

After the assembly, grandparents are invited back to the school to spend time with their grandchildren in the classroom and visiting the book fair.

Please note the following:

·         Parking is going to be tricky.   Those willing and able to walk to the gym/school are asked to park in the Security Bank parking lot in an effort to leave the closer parking spots for others. 

·         After the assembly, students will return to the school with their class/teacher.

·         Students will be having picnic lunch in their classrooms.  Grandparents are welcome to bring their lunch to eat with their grandchildren.

·         It is always helpful if the grandparents know the name of the teacher(s), so we can easily direct them to the classroom. 

·         If students are leaving with their grandparents, you MUST communicate this info with the homeroom teachers PRIOR to Nov 25. 

·         We have early release scheduled at 1:00pm this day.  We respectfully ask that grandparents depart the school by 12:30pm in order to allow room for our carline and buses in the parking lot.   The buses can’t maneuver through our lot when there are cars parked in each row.

·         As always, parents are welcome to join us at the OSA.  Please make every attempt to leave seating for the grandparents.   

Also, in an effort to make this day special for the grandparents/students, we respectfully ask that only grandparents join us at the school afterwards.
