February 17-20

Friday, February 20th: Dudes and Donuts Guys may arrive at school at 2:45. Please use the center (south) door, not main entrance. Students leaving with their guest will be dismissed at 3:15, others will follow their normal after school routine.  If your child is getting a ride home with their visitor, please notify the teacher prior to February 20. MATH

This week's focus: Growing, ABA & ABBA Patterns; 3 Dimensional Shapes

During the months of January, February, March students will work on the following skills:

·         numbers 0-31 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)

·         addition

·         interpreting and analyzing graphs

·         tally marks

·         matching and sorting: 3-D shapes

·         patterns : ABC, ABBA, growing patterns

·         comparing, ordering, and  measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches

·         Using a balance to measure weight

Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.

HANDWRITING/WRITING

We are working on thinking about what we are going to write and planning it out across all of the pages in our story. Including details and labeling in our pictures is an important way to tell more about our story. 

CORE KNOWLEDGE

Kindergarteners will learn about Kings and Queens, the Royal Family, and traditional songs and peoms related to Kings and Queens.
