On Friday, the 17th, the school store will be selling Gobble Grams. Please see below to read a note from Mrs. Riz (the school counselor as well as the school store leader):

"Gobble Grams will be $2 and students will have an opportunity to write a message to peers or staff on why they are grateful for them. The gram will include t-day swag (non edible). Each gram will be delivered to homerooms November 21st in the morning."


The Disguise a Turkey "homework" is due THIS Wednesday, November 15th, though you can send them to school early or whenever you finish disguising him/her.  Please send them in as soon as possible.



The book fair "preview" flyer will be sent home on Wednesday, the 15th, as well. Please see the next email regarding the book fair and Grandparents Day. 



Give to the Max Day is Thursday, November 16th! Help support our school by making a donation (big or small!) to Cologne Academy. You can donate that day or any day up until the 16th.

$15,000 - All School Non-uniform Day



$20,000 - Monday after Easter NO SCHOOL! 





Grandparents Day 1:00-2:10, our Fall Party 10:50-11:50 AND November's OSA 2:30-3:15 and Book Fair is Tuesday, November 21st.  If you would like to volunteer to help at the fall party please email your child's teacher.  Also if you would like to help out at the book fair please see the link below and sign up for a spot.  We are in need of many helpers especially on Tuesday.

NO SCHOOL November 22nd through November 24th. 



Please, please keep sending your kinder's winter gear to school, including snow pants, winter coat, snow boots, hat and gloves (waterproof gloves/mittens are the best!). Even though there is no snow on the ground, it can get very chilly and the snow pants help keep the kinders warm :)

MATH

During the months of November and December students will work on the following skills:

·   numbers 0-20 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)
·   tally marks
·  matching and sorting: shapes
·  reviewing 2 -dimensional shapes, shapes in pictures
·  reviewing left and right
·  patterns :ABC and ABB
·  comparing, ordering, and  measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches

Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.


HANDWRITING/WRITING

Zaner-Bloser Handwriting

Students will practice the basic handwriting strokes, pencil grip, and correct posture.



CORE KNOWLEDGE

Plants- kindergarteners will learn about the parts of a plant and what plants need to grow. We will be growing our own plants.

The deadline to sign the Google Doc and pay for our upcoming field trip to Stages Theater (on November 30th) is November 13th, though the sooner, the better! 

     

If your kinder has not brought in a non-perishable food item, it is not too late! The Food Drive will last through this week and will end this Friday, November 10th.

This Friday, the 10th is Picture Re-Take Day. If your kinder is having his/her picture taken again, please send in his/her photo packet back to school. Once the new pictures have been developed, you will receive the new packet. Please let me know if your kinder will be re-taking his/her picture so I can ensure his/her picture will be taken. Please also send uniform clothes to school to be changed into after pictures.



This Friday, the 10th (so many things happening on Friday!), we are also celebrating Veterans Day. We will be honoring veterans as well as learning more about veterans during an assembly Friday afternoon. The Veterans Day program begins at 2:30 pm. You are more than welcome to join us! If you plan to attend and would like to take your kinder home with you after the program, please let me know so we can ensure your kinder's end-of-day things are with us.
