Notes: 
Monday, October 27 & Tuesday, October 28: Math Assessment

Tuesday, October 28: College T-shirt day (all grades)
For Kindergarten,  it will be optional to wear our College Ts due to the College T-shirt days on Wednesday & Thursday.

Wednesday, October 29: Gale Woods Field Trip 1-3pm
Students should wear their College Ts. We like to wear our college t-shirts on field trips so that we can show our CA pride!

Thursday, October 30: OSA @ 2:50
Students should wear their College Ts today too. :)

Friday, October 31: Kindergarten Fall Party 9:30-10:45 (Mrs. Pogatshnik's party is 9:15-10:30)
All parents are welcome to attend. Students should not wear costumes.

Friday, October 31:Early Release 1:00 pm
Students will be dismissed at 1:00 pm; please let your child's teacher know prior to this date if your child will have a different plan than usual for getting home.

MATH
This week we will administer our Math Interim test.
During the months of November and December students will work on the following skills:
·   numbers 0-20 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)
·   tally marks
·  matching and sorting: shapes
·  reviewing 2 -dimensional shapes
·  patterns :ABC and ABB
·  comparing, ordering, and  measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches
Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.

HANDWRITING/WRITING
Letters: Bb, Ll, Rr, Uu
Students will practice the basic handwriting strokes, pencil grip, and correct posture.
Labeling Pictures

CORE KNOWLEDGE
Animal Habitats-Each day we will be learning about a different habitat and the animals that live in that particular habitat.

Notes:
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22: Students wear orange on top with uniform bottoms (Anit-Bullying awareness month)

This week our focus is sorting and patterns: Students will be working on creating and extending AB and ABB patterns using many different attributes such as shape, size, color, orientation, etc.

  • This week is Fire Prevention week. The Cologne Fire Department will be coming to the school on Wednesday to teach the kindergarteners about fire safety.
