November 24-25

Notes:
Tuesday is Grandparent's Day with the OSA starting at 10:00! We also have an early release at 1:00. If your child is going home with their grandparent please let the teacher know before Tuesday. 

Progress Reports are available for viewing on Infinite Campus this week. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

MATH
This week's focus: review
During the months of November and December students will work on the following skills:
·   numbers 0-20 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)
·   tally marks
·  matching and sorting: shapes
·  reviewing 2 -dimensional shapes
·  patterns :ABC and ABB
·  comparing, ordering, and  measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches
Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.

HANDWRITING/WRITING
Letters: Review Letter Formation
Students will practice the basic handwriting strokes, pencil grip, and correct posture.

CORE KNOWLEDGE
Columbus and the Pilgrims

Next week:
We will be reading Me on the Map & Mapping Penny's World focusing on main idea and details as well as the author's purpose. In Math, we will begin comparing the length's of objects. We will also measure objects using a ruler and nonstandard units of measurement. In Core Knowledge the students will learn about  Colonial Towns and Townspeople.
