The Veterans' Day Program is tomorrow, Wednesday, at 2:30 PM. You are welcome to join us in the Community Center for the program. If you are planning to attend and would like to take your child home with you afterwards, please let me know by tomorrow morning. If you plan to attend and do not notify me that you will be taking your child home with you, you will need to go to carline (similar to OSA procedure).

Picture re-takes are this Friday, November 13th. Students are allowed to be out of uniform for their pictures but will then need to change back into school uniform afterwards...so don't forget to pack your child's uniform as well!
Tuesday, November 24th, is going to be a fun-filled day, including College T-Shirt Day, Fall Party, OSA, Grandparents' Day and Book Fair. We will be having the Fall Party in the morning, from 9:30 - 11:00 am.
You will be receiving a flyer this afternoon, which will provide you with more details regarding Grandparents' Day. Please make sure you let me know, by Monday, November 23rd, if your Kindergartner will be going home with his/her grandparent(s).

During the months of September and October students will work on the following skills:

· numbers 0-20 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)
· tally marks
· matching and sorting: shapes
· reviewing 2 -dimensional shapes
· patterns :ABC and ABB
· comparing, ordering, and measuring using non-standard units of measurement and with a ruler in inches
Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.
HANDWRITING/WRITING
We are working on thinking like writers and getting our ideas on paper using pictures and words.
CORE KNOWLEDGE
Plants- kindergarteners will learn about the parts of a plant and what plants need to grow. We will be growing our own plants and completing an observation log.
