May 11-15

Thank You to our fabulous parents for a wonderful teacher appreciation week! Every day came with a special surprise. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to teach your children.

LITERATURE
Focus: Character Change

MATH
This week's focus: Review for our final interim
During the months of April and May  students will work on the following skills

  • numbers to 100 (ordering, identifying, representing, and writing)
  • addition and subtraction
  • ordinal position: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th
  •  patterns : ABA and shrinking
  • capacity
  • telling time to the hour
  • money: identify coins and the coin’s value, counting coins with the same value
Throughout the year students will explore math through open-ended- problem solving journals, math stations, ipads/ipods, IXL, rekenreks, and a variety of math manipulatives.

HANDWRITING/WRITING
Students will begin their unit about writing how-to books. Students will learn how to write a book explaining the steps to complete an activity. 

CORE KNOWLEDGE
Unit - Taking Care of the Earth. Students will learn about recycling and how to take care of our planet.
